The Foreclosure Shoppe

Logline

“The Foreclosure Shoppe” is a one-hour reality show that explores the wild and crazy life of the top foreclosure realtor/investor in the nation’s foreclosure capital, Lee County, Florida.

Introduction

Tom “The Hitman” Bruzzesi is a self-described “genius of foreclosure sales.” The keys to Tom’s success are his persistence, determination, and cool, calculated, and savvy business acumen. There is also his special ability to just “be in the moment” which also helps Tom take advantage of an opportunity whenever it becomes available. Tom is also the master at flustering people. Think, of “Flip This House” meets a four-pack of Red Bull. Or, “Dog, the Bounty Hunter” meshed with “Repo Man” and you’ll have an idea what “The Foreclosure Shoppe” would be like.

Tom operates out of southwest Florida’s Lee and Charlotte counties, home of one of the nations most active foreclosure markets (top 10 in the nation). In fact, Lee County alone has 70 properties on the auction block for one day and the pace will rise to a breath-taking 90 to 100 properties per day in June of 2008 – and the pace is not even slowing. There is a backlog of 16,000 foreclosed homes in Lee County, Florida just waiting for an appointment with the auctioneer, which will likely happen over the next 3-years. Three additional judges were hired in April 2008 just to handle the ever growing backlog. This is what it sounds like when opportunity knocks for “The Hitman”!

The historical meltdown in the financial markets and the ensuing huge growth in foreclosures in this country is the talk of the nation. The time is absolutely perfect for a topical program following a true foreclosure professional - it is time for “The Foreclosure Shoppe.”

Just imagine Tom being in Lee County, Florida one week. And then Bam! One week later, Tom suddenly appears at the Maricopa County Courthouse in Arizona or at the Clark County Courthouse, in Nevada to see what kind of foreclosure action is happening there. Then, imagine the terror in the faces of the local foreclosure investors when Tom Bruzzesi unleashes his typical aggressive and comedic bidding style. Wow!

But, beyond creating excitement with his aggressive and comedic bidding style at the local’s expense, the real excitement would be the trials and tribulations of Tom learning the local market in a few days time. Just think of the all of the potential conflict arising from Tom arriving in locations around the country that he has never been to, and is without knowledge of the local property values. Then, throw in a complete lack of knowledge of the basic information vital to his success: a working knowledge of the local court procedures and filing systems and the ability to perform the vital title searches in the local public records.

These ingredients form the perfect recipe for an action-packed episodes of “The Foreclosure Shoppe.” Of course, after the adrenaline rush and mad dash to learn the local environment climaxes – the excitement continues on as Tom walks into the local sale kicking ass and taking names in his distinctive style. How will this crazy bastard accomplish his mission? Talk about an exciting show! No other real estate/foreclosure show can offer this kind of entertainment. It is a must have for any network in today’s historic real estate market. Viewers will love it the moment they see it. It will keep viewers on the edge of their seats and coming back week after week for more of Tom’s antics and for the secrets of his success.

Style

In-your-face and over-the-top with a tip to “Dog, the Bounty Hunter” and “The Repo Man.” The show will be raw, crude, and rugged. However, it will be informative, entertaining, and have just the right touch of comedy. Graphics with edgy designs will be used to highlight and explain key terms and will move the story along.

Who is Tom Bruzzesi?

Who is Tom Bruzzesi? Where in the hell did he come from? How did he get to where he is today? Why does he call himself “The Hitman” at the Foreclosure Sales?

Tom Bruzzesi’s life was filled with many ups and downs, like most others, but he has some truly amazing life stories to tell. Over the last 44 years, Tom’s amazing life experiences helped develop him into the character that he is today. Briefly, Tom was born in northern New Jersey. Tom’s parents divorced when he was 2 years old. When Tom was 5 years old, a childhood friend pushed him down a flight of stairs and Tom suffered a major blood clot on the right side of his brain, which required surgery to remove it. After the surgery was over, Tom’s doctors bandaged his head improperly. The bandages were too tight and they ultimately cut off the circulation to Tom’s scalp. Then the gangrene set in.

The gangrene resulted in yet another major operation in the form of a skin graft from Tom’s thigh’s to replace the gangrenous skin on his scalp. Although the skin grafts were successful, the pressure on Tom’s young brain required yet another major surgery. This time, a cerebral shunt was installed on the right side of Tom’s head to drain excess spinal fluid. Although Tom survived the surgeries, they left a 3” swath of major scarring on his forehead from the top of his skull to the base of his neck.

Although thankful to be alive, Tom struggled thru years of constant teasing and humiliation from other children because of his scarring. To make matters worse, Tom was blocked from participating in school or league sports because of his cerebral shunt. And, Tom was prevented from pursuing his dream of becoming a United States Marine and becoming a police officer (devastating beyond all belief), Nonetheless, Tom never resorted to illegal drugs, alcohol, or even smoking to fill the void in his life. Tom is above and beyond all else persistent and determined. He found his outlet in training at the gym and his resolve in martial arts training with the best teacher, Sensei Larry Reynosa, who helped him thru some of the very toughest moments in his life. Sensei Reynosa was one of the biggest influences to Tom – even to this day.

Eventually, Tom settled (at least temporarily) on working as a carpenter and an electrician. But, Tom’s moment of inspiration came while watching a late night T.V. program on buying and selling real estate for riches. Something about the late night show stuck with Tom and he was off and running.

At the age of 28, Tome left New Jersey and arrived in southwest Florida - with no job, no money, and no roof over his head. Amazingly, he found a way to succeed. Over the years, Tom and his ex-girlfriend bought 38 rental units and foreclosed homes. They improved them and resold them for profit. At the same time, Tom acquired his Florida Real Estate Broker’s license, selling real estate out of the local MLS listing services, and working a full-time job as an electrician. Everything went along smoothly - until financial setbacks once again set in – Tom was laid off from his full-time job as an electrician in 2000.

After being laid off from his electrical job in 2000, Tom opened his own real estate brokerage firm, Thomas Realty and Investments, Inc. But, Tom had no customers and no listings at the time. But, like every other adversity in his life, Tom overcame it all with persistence and determination, becoming one of the leading real estate brokers in Lee County by selling bank foreclosed listings to his customers. Tom quickly built his business to the point where he was selling approximately 50 to 60 properties per year generating an average of $110,000.00 in commissions per year.

However, Tom quickly realized that he was making his customers a lot of money and decided that he should venture back into real estate investing. It was then that Tom met a gentleman who took him to the foreclosure sale in Lee County, Florida one morning. That was all it took - Tom was hooked. The gentleman took an interest in Tom and taught him how to examine the foreclosure files and to properly analyze foreclosures. Tom took the knowledge and ran with it. Today, Tom and the same gentleman are partners in one of the most successful foreclosure investment businesses in Florida.

To this day, Tom is very thankful for his partner and the life changing opportunity that he brought to Tom. Since partnering with his mentor, Tom has purchased over 300 foreclosed properties at foreclosure sales in Lee and Charlotte Counties in Florida. So far in 2008, Tom and his partner have purchased 30 properties and are averaging almost $15,000.00 profit per property, while holding property on average 45 days or less.

Tom has witnessed both the incredible rise in real estate in recent years as well as the historic down-turn in 2007. The real estate market is also a good metaphor for Tom’s life of great adversity and great accomplishment. But, no matter what has changed over the years personally and professionally, it has always been Tom’s persistence and determination that allowed him and continues to allow him to prevail in any situation. “The Hitman?” ABSOLUTELY! As long as Tom is in charge of “The Foreclosure Shoppe,” it is guaranteed to be a smash hit.
